The challenge to overcome
The RA Center is a non-profit organization that operates a 150,000 square foot multi-sport and recreational center located in the heart of Ottawa, Ontario.
The facility includes numerous sports and recreational amenities as well as several world-class health and wellness clinics.
The Center will fully integrate sustainability into operations.
However, this transition comes with several challenges: Aging assets requiring significant investment, lack of structured financing, and competing priorities (such as accessibility or improving existing services).
Innovative financing
SOFIAC helped the RA Center overcome obstacles to decarbonization by offering a fully customized approach, 100% financed with no required CAPEX. SOFIAC provided technical expertise to guide engineering decisions while maximizing access to available subsidies.
This integrated solution will enable the RA Center infrastructure to be modernized without mobilizing internal resources. As a result, decarbonization will reduce operating costs, improve user comfort, and unlock the full potential of the Center by making it more sustainable, efficient, and attractive in the long term.
