When decarbonization contributes to strategic development challenges

  • $14.3 M invested
  • 51% in reduced GHG emissions
  • 3.6 MW of winter peak shaving

The starting challenge

ADM is a not-for-profit corporation serving the community. The company is responsible for managing, operating, and developing the YUL and YMX installations. Constantly striving to improve the user experience, ADM was looking for a partner capable of helping it implement concrete decarbonization measures without affecting its investment capacity.

Financing decarbonization measures with short and long-term impacts

SOFIAC proposed a financing solution to implement a set of complementary technical measures as well as benefit from short and long-term energy efficiency gains. This approach enabled ADM to achieve in-depth decarbonization while maintaining its financial capacity for other strategic projects. Reduced energy consumption is accompanied by tangible improvements for millions of passengers.
Results
  • $14.3 M invested by SOFIAC
  • 51% in reduced GHG emissions
  • 3.6 MW of winter peak load shaving
  • 11% in reduced energy consumption
  • 2,200 tCO2eq/year avoided equivalent to taking 670 light vehicles off the road each year
Financial and strategic benefits
  • Avoided CAPEX
  • $1,194,000 in annual savings
  • Enhanced thermal comfort and improved customer experience
  • Ownership transfer of assets to ADM as soon as they are commissioned
  • Enhanced operational resilience
SOFIAC has enabled us to assemble a set of impact measures for in-depth decarbonization without investing our capital.
